PRESS BULLETIN
The extensive pleasure to make contribution to our country’s economy is experienced by efforts of our active members whose numbers are increasing day by day in our Tekstilkent (Textil City) which has been opened on 24th June 2000 as the honor and pride source of our country and textile industry and which is a huge work built in a short unbelievable time like 6.5 years when compared with its size.
The idea of “we must envisage to loose selection for the sake of gaining Istanbul” that has been voiced by our Prime Minster in person with respect to the future of our Tekstilkent makes us, as the workers of textile industry, much more hopeful. Attaining the position and the activity that we dream by our Tekstilkent and thus having its real place in our country’s economy shall only be possible by making Istanbul and especially historical peninsula a finance and culture center and gathering business places related with textile industry in their real place namely our Tekstilkent and having Tekstilkent acquired supportive qualities fro textile industry. We are waiting the arrangements on these issues are made both by our Government and by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Counties’ Municipalities as soon as possible with impatience.
Our Tekstilkent has been built on area purchased from Finance Treasury via State Land Office on 18th July 1991 by our Cooperative Association which has been established for the purpose of releasing the business places included in textile industry which have been spread to various districts of Istanbul especially in Sultanhamam and Osmanbey by making a big progress after 1960’s and which are experiencing various problems i.e. substructure deficiency, transportation and travel difficulties, irregular construction, insufficient security factors from these problems and providing them a modern Tekstilkent.
The ground surveys constituting the basis for preparing our construction plans and implementation projects for this area have been carried out by Istanbul University and Istanbul Technical University painstakingly and ground safety regressions have been determined.
After approval of our master construction plans and implementation construction plans, our implementation plans which shall constitute a modern Teksitlkent resistant against earthquakes have been prepared by taking the stat derived from ground surveys into the consideration and the construction of our Tekstilkent has been initiated by Süleyman DEMİREL, our 9th President on 20.12.1993.
Our Tekstilkent which is the most modern textile trade center of our country and even the world shall cost 300 million US Dollars. The sections of our complex have been completed except for five star hotel and shopping center of which its construction has not been commenced yet and twins plazas having 44 floors of which their construction is on progress and 6 units of multi-floored car-park blocks which have been completed partially.
The total construction area of our complex covering 4244 units of business place in various sizes within its structure is 927.734 m² approximately. 118.000 m² of such construction area is constituted by closed car-park sections in addition to open car-park sections.
Our Tekstilkent consists of 41 blocks covering business places belonging to textile industry in various sizes, market and office blocks covering business places belonging to service industry, twins plazas having 44 floors and five star hotel and shopping center of which its construction has not been commenced yet.
There are 1393 units of A type business place in 25 units of A Block having 1 or 2 basements + 5 floors varying depending on inclination of the land where A type business places are located as being; 550 units of A-1 type 498 units of A-2 type 98 units of A-3 type 247 units of A-4 type
- A-1 type business place consisting of two floors + one half floor as being warehouse floor, shop floor and mezzanine floor has an average surface area of 180 m² as being warehouse floor having a surface area of 72 m², shop floor having a surface area of 72 m² and mezzanine floor having a surface area of 36 m².

area of 84 m² and mezzanine floor having a surface area of 46 m². - A-3 type business place consisting of one floor + one half floor as being shop floor and mezzanine floor is located at the corners of the blocks and has an average surface area of 156 m² as being shop floor having a surface area of 100 m² and mezzanine floor having a surface area of 56 m².
- A-4 type business place consisting of one floor has an average surface area of 70 m².
There are 1017 units of B type business place in 10 units of A Block having 1 or 2 basements + 5 floors varying depending on inclination of the land where B type business places are located and in Galeria 1 and Galeria 2 blocks having 3 basements + 8 floors as being; 320 units of B-1 type (B Blocks) 206 units of B-1 type (G1 and G2 Blocks) 304 units of B-2 type (B Blocks) 40 units of B-3 type (B Blocks) 147 units of B-4 type (B Blocks)

area of 58 m² and mezzanine floor having a surface area of 32 m². - B-3 type business place consisting of one floor + one half floor as being shop floor and mezzanine floor is located at the corners of the blocks and has an average surface area of 115 m² as being shop floor having a surface area of 75 m² and mezzanine floor having a surface area of 40 m².
- B-4 type business place consisting of one floor has an average surface area of 48 m².
- There are 622 units of GB/2 type business place in Galeria 1 and Galeria 2 blocks having 3 basements + 8 floors where GB/2 type business places are located. GB/2 type business place consisting of one floor + one half floor as being shop floor and mezzanine floor has an average surface area of 75 m² as being shop floor having a surface area of 48 m² and mezzanine floor having a surface area of 72 m². GB/2 type business places are located in three different floors and their surface areas vary from 75 m² up to 125 m² depending on their floor and location.
There are 646 units of business place in 3 units of GD Block where C type business places are located as being; 269 units of C-1 type 209 units of C-2 type 144 units of C-3 type 24 units of C-5 type All of C type business places consist of one floor.
C-1 type business places have an average surface area of 66 m² C-2 type business places have an average surface area of 66 m² C-3 type business places have an average surface area of 75 m² C-5 type business places have an average surface area of 90 m²
There are 89 units of business place of which their surface areas vary from 32 m² up to 92 m² in Galeria blocks each having 4 floors.
There are 168 units of business place of which their surface areas vary from 70 m² up to 150 m² in Office block having 2 basements + 8 floors which is also allocated for service industry. 25 business places located in ground floor have mezzanine floor except for one business place.
Plazas have 44 floors as being 3 basements + ground floor + mezzanine floor + 34 normal floors + penthouse floor + 3 installation floors and consist of 259 independent sections totally as being 130 sections in A Block and 129 sections in B Block. Total construction area is 127.000 m². Its rough construction and coating external siding construction has been completed. In accordance with the agreement executed with the contractor company, the floors where the business places belonging to our partners and all of the common areas which shall ensure the usage of the building in B Block are completed rapidly in order to be delivered at the end of the first half of 2005.
There are 2 units of big stores in the ground floors of the plazas as being 1300 m² in A Block and 1140 m² in B Block. There are 4 units of business place having a surface area of 280 m² in each floor in normal floors except for 1st, 10th and 16th floors.
There are duplex business places having a surface area of 975 m² on 34th floors of both blocks. There are 2 units of business place having a surface area of 285 m² and one unit of business place having a surface area of 547 m² on the first floor of A Block and 2 units of business place having a surface area of 285 m² and one unit of business place having a surface area of 195 m² on the first floor of B Block and there are 2 units of business place having a surface area of 370 m² on the 10th and 16th floors of both block.
The showroom having a surface area of 5000 m² located in twins plazas having 44 floors which shall be equipped by computer network which shall connect the exporters to the world shall be available for visual activities in each branch of textile as well as meeting hall having a capacity of 500 persons for congresses and social activities. Our restaurants also located in our plazas have been planned for rendering service to 300 persons and 3 basements having a total surface area of 15.000 m² have been allocated as multi-floored car-park.
There are also spaces available for kitchen and WC in A-1, A-2, A-3, B-1, B-2, B-3 and GB/2 type business places from 4244 units of business place in all blocks and 2865 units of business places located in plazas.
A modern loading-discharging service shall be provided in closed warehousing facilities having a total surface area of 20.000 m² located in 3 blocks by utilizing from our age’s technological possibilities.
Our open exhibition area having a surface area of 6.500 m² has a capacity sufficient for meeting the needs of any and all kind of exhibition organizations. Our helicopter runway shall provide important advantages for ensuring transportation more easily.
The areas like open car-park area, green areas, sport areas, urban service areas, police station area, PTT (Post Telephone Telegram) area, Municipality service area, fire brigade area, School area, Health area have been allocated as social areas in our Tekstilkent and assigned to the relevant institutions. Furthermore, the telephone exchange building having
a capacity of 100 thousand subscribers constructed on PTT area by our Cooperative Association and assigned to Türk Telekomünikasyon A.Ş. has been commissioned.
There shall be bank branches, foreign exchange offices, restaurants and any other business places that should be available in a market in our market block allocated to service industry and there shall be various business places and offices in our office block.
The road transportation needs have been met in a considerable level by connecting our Tekstilkent to TEM motorway towards Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. Possibility to enter/exit to/from Textilkent in direction of Mahmutbey shall be ensured upon completion of cross-roads of which its construction is in progress on the junction point of TEM Motorway and TEM-Bus Station Motorway. The Motorway which is located in southern direction according to implementation construction plan and which shall connect TEM-Bus Station Motorway to Olympia Stadium and İkitelli Region is at the stage of awarding by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
It shall be possible to reach at the city center as soon as and as fast as possible by means of Vezneciler-Sultançiftliği rail system line of which its construction has been initiated by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and which shall be connected to our Tekstilkent.
Transportation to various regions of Istanbul is easily ensured at present by means of transportation service provided between Tekstilkent-Sultanhamam by our Cooperation Association and also by means of buses allocated to the region by İ.E.T.T. Management and collective transportation vehicles belonging to private sector.
The business places included in complex have obtained a considerably attractive and modern status by having any and all kind of possibilities due to such merits and features of our Tekstilkent.
Present status in this project for which no credit has been facilitated has been reached by monies collected from our partners and finance created in our internal structure. No financial support has been provided from State or any Public Establishment in any stage of our construction including substructure up to date.
It is calculated that approximately 15-20 thousands of person shall work in this complex and this figure shall reach at 25-30 thousands of person together with visitors when our Tekstilkent begins its activities completely.
Furthermore, our Tekstilkent which shall gather all units of textile industry within its structure shall also provide service for international markets in addition to the domestic market. All of the substructure services including communication required for this purpose are available in our complex.
Our Tekstilkent of which its contribution to economy is calculated as 15-20 billion US Dollars shall also make contribution to economy in terms of tourism by means of allocation of the areas which shall become vacant due to move of the business place belonging to textile industry located in historical peninsula to Tekstilkent for tourism.
